How to Have Glowing Summer Makeup on a Budget

We don’t have to spend a ton of money to have beautiful summer makeup. Here are some of our best tricks for saving money on cosmetics.

Do It Yourself

Not only will you save money by making your own makeup, you’ll also avoid slathering chemicals on your skin. We’ve been experimenting with making our own, and have been amazed at how inexpensive it is. With a few basic ingredients, like coconut oil and activated charcoal, we can make all sorts of makeup. Here are some recipes we’ve been trying:

Homemade eyeliner (black and brown options)

All natural blush

Homemade natural mascara

Homemade Lip Gloss

Natural foundation

Use Less

When the temperatures rise, we use less makeup. We stay away from anything heavy that’ll cause us to sweat more. By using less makeup, we’ll save money and let our natural beauty shine through.

Invest in Products that Multi-Task

Summer is the perfect time to find makeup products that have multiple uses. One of our favorites is a warm, nude shade of cream blush. We can use this on our cheeks like normal. But, that’s not the only place to apply. We’ve also used it on our eyes and lips. It’s a very versatile product! Other multi-purpose products include:

•Liquid highlighters

•Eyeliner

•Lipstick

Cutting down on the number of products we purchase helps our budgets stay on track.

Stop Buying Makeup Remover

We’ve discovered there’s no need to spend money on special makeup removers. A combination of coconut oil and grapeseed oil work fabulously.

We just gently warm the coconut oil until it’s melted and then mix it in the grapeseed oil. Just a tiny bit of this mixture takes off all our makeup. We rub the oil on and remove the makeup with a reusable washcloth.

Cut Foundation with Oil

Summer isn’t the time for heavy foundation application. When we mix a little beauty oil with our favorite foundation, it blends evenly on our skin. It helps us achieve the glowing look we were trying for. It also means we’re using less foundation, so we won’t have to buy it as frequently.

While you can spend a lot of money on fancy beauty oils, we prefer jojoba oil. It’s inexpensive and very versatile and provides the nutrients our skin needs.

Sign Up for Discounts with Your Favorite Brands

Many makeup companies offer discounts in exchange for our email address. It’s a price we’re willing to pay for deals. We really like the notification of upcoming sales, because it allows us to stockpile at the lowest price point.

We’ve also received coupons by liking companies on various social media channels. Look for ways to engage with them, and you never know what discounts will come your way.

Pay with Gift Cards

We’ve used gift cards to purchase our favorites. Our favorite way to earn gift cards is with our SideMoney account. We get points for taking surveys, watching videos, and downloading apps. It’s a fun way to earn!

With SideMoney, we can turn our points into gift cards for our favorite retailers and purchase makeup without opening up our wallets.
