The beginning of a new year is a great time to set some new health goals. One way to drastically improve your health is to drink more water. It can be difficult for some people to drink water on a regular basis. The following are some tips that can help you get in enough water each day to improve your overall well-being.
Calculate How Much Water You Need
One reason why some feel they aren’t drinking enough water is because they are misinformed about how much water they truly need. The old adage of eight glasses a day is no more. Drinking that amount of water each day can seem quite daunting. You may not need that much water at all, which can help make your water intake goal more achievable. To find out how much water your body needs, you need to divide your body weight in half. You then should drink that many ounces of water each day. For instance, if you weigh 150 pounds, you would need to drink 75 ounces of water daily. You may find that you need more than eight glasses of water a day, but you will be adequately fueling your body with just enough water necessary.
Flavor Your Water
If you are not a fan of plain water, you can opt to flavor it to make it more palatable. Lemon is a very popular add-in for water. It is bright and refreshing, making water more delicious to drink. You can infuse your water with any fruit you enjoy. Peaches, strawberries, limes, oranges, mangoes, and more are only a few examples. You can also infuse it with fresh mint or rosemary. You can even add some cucumber to your water to make it extra refreshing.
Drink from Your Favorite Cup
Your drinking vessel can make a true difference when you are trying to increase your water intake. Choose a really nice cup or glass to drink from. There is something to be said to see your water in a beautiful glass full of fresh lemon or lime. If you prefer not to use a glass, go out and purchase your own water bottle or plastic cup with a reusable straw. Doing so can really be an encouragement that will help you get your daily allotment of water in each day.
Choose Sparkling Water
If you simply cannot get your water down every day, you may want to consider switching to sparkling water. The fizziness of the water can help mimic that of soda or your other favorite carbonated beverage. If you do not want to drink plain sparkling water, you can again add flavoring to it by adding fresh fruit. You can also purchase sugar-free flavoring drops or packets that can be added to your sparkling water to make it a truly delicious beverage that will help replace all of the unhealthy drinks you enjoyed previously.
