7 Creative Valentine’s Ideas

Do you want to shine on Valentine’s Day, but don’t have a ton of money to drop on jewels and perfume? We’ve come up with a few creative Valentine’s Day ideas that won’t break the bank.

1. Do Something New

If you want to save some money, yet still go out for a fun night on Valentine’s Day, take a look at sites like LivingSocial and Groupon to find something new to do. Pick something neither of you have ever done before and make it interesting! Maybe some dance lessons or a pottery class?

2. Put Your Heart Into Baking

Maybe you don’t want to spend money on going out to eat. Another way you can get creative is to pick up a heart shaped pan from the local craft store and back a Valentine’s Day treat. Maybe an extra-large heart-shaped cookie or some heart-shaped pancakes for breakfast.

3. Pop Some Personalized Bubbly

You could buy a couple of champagne flutes from the dollar store and some acrylic paint to make a personalized toasting glass. Then pick up some cheap champagne and toast to love!

4. Go Social

We love this idea! Write a simple love poem and then feed it out on social media to your intended. Send a line every few minutes, every hour, or however you want. Be sure to tag the other person. You can also schedule it if you don’t want to do it manually. They will be waiting for the next line, so be sure to end it with a bang! (“Will you marry me,” maybe?)

5. Create a Playlist

A mix tape was the way to go years ago when you wanted to express yourself with music. Now, you can create a Valentine’s Day playlist that says everything you want to say. Then, text it or send via social media.

6. Chore Takeover

Pick the one chore that your sweetheart hates the most—taking out the trash, cleaning the bathroom, vacuuming—and then do it! Or better yet, give them some time off and take over the duties for a whole week.

7. Buy a Plant Instead of Flowers

Flowers fade fast. Why not buy something that lasts instead? A potted plant can live long into the year and be a great memory of your feelings well into summer. If you want to buy cut flowers though, try going in on a large bunch with a friend so you can share the cost.

There are lots of ways to make this Valentine’s Day memorable and save money.
